Message Sorry, Argo's code has got to change (probably with some migration support for old Argo files) or there has to be a conversion process between Argo and the other tools XMI. I would think it better to
bit the bullet and change the Argo code to follow the XMI standard and handle the migration issue just once.

The DTD basically is a statement of a contract. The OMG proposed a contract that, for example, "Foundation.Core.GeneralizableElement.isRoot" would be used to capture the isRoot-ness of a class et al
and captured parts of the contract (element names, attributes, etc) in a file called a DTD that could be used to validate to a limited extent whether a document adhered to the contract. The IBM and
Rose apps were built to the terms of that contract and should have code something like :

if(element.tagName.equals("Foundation.Core.GeneralizableElement.isRoot"))

somewhere in their code base. The applications are not capabable of adapting dynamically to a new "contract" (reading a file with a different DTD and recognizing the concept they know as
Foundation.Core.GeneralizableElement.isRoot is now simply isRoot).
