Message <FAQ>
<introduction>
Please specify your version of ARGO when making your requests for help.
As well, this document is not well formed but I will try to get it to
work sooner than later.
By the way, if anyone has an idea of a good xml checker please pass it on.

<question>
Who is responsible for the Java Web Start Updates?

<question>
Where can I find out more information about the user-group?
</question>
<answer>

</answer>
<question>
I didn't see a "users" mailing list on the website. Is this the
appropriate place for "how do I do x" and "why doesn't y work" type of
questions?
</question>
<answer>

<question>
What applications open PGML?
</question>
<answer>
</answer>
<ARGO 8.1>
<known_problems>
There are some synchronization problem and you will not see the changes
in the class diagram.
</known_problems>
<question>
In version 0.8.1 I was able to use any multiplicity. In version 0.9.2
I only have a choice of some entries within a popup list. I cannot
use other than that list.
Is this a bug or a feature?
</question>
<answer>
A little of both. Multiplicity is now more of a full model element in
the UML meta-model with an internal structure instead of just an
arbitrary string. I think the combo box is much more usable in general
and I thought that the edge cases didn't justify the complexity for the
ability to add a custom multiplicity (or I didn't have time to add an
editor on the combo box field, its been a while).
</answer>

<ARGO 9.1>
<question>
Is there commercial support for ARGO?
</question>
<answer>
See http://www.gentleware.com
</answer>
<question>
I created a collaboration diagram using verstion V091. The "Add Message"
button in toolbar is greyed out. Did I miss something to activate it?
</question>
<answer>
First you have to connect two classifier roles with an association role,
select this association role and then you can specify a message on this
connection.
</answer>
<question>
Can I branch or fork stimulus in sequence diagram?
</question>
<answer>
This feature is not supported yet but it's planned to implement it in near
future
</answer>
</Argo 9.1>

<Argo 9.2>
<question>
Is it possible to switch to 'real' UML Syntax, like 'Name : String' in
class diagrams?
</question>
<answer>
</answer>

<question>
Can you please tell me how to add instantiation methods like 'public
Person(String name)'without ArgoUML complaining about missing return
types (-> 'void??')?
</question>
<answer>
Someone else has to answer for 0.8, but in 0.9.2 you set the stereotype
<<create>> on the operation. The panel does not update the operation as
expected though, so you will have to press the "New operation" button
for it to take effect.
</answer>
<question>
I cant seem to get the add message button to be non-greyed out. Can
someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
</question>
<answer>
</answer>
<CVS>
<question>
Where do I get the CVS?
</question>
<answer>
You can reach it via normal cvs command (either in a tool or on the
command line). The server is the same as for ArgoUML (try
:pserver:guest@cvs.tigris.org:/cvs) and the name of the repository is
gef/src.
</answer>
<question>
Where can I find instructions for the CVS?
</question>
<answer>
The list is in README_COMPILE.txt and in build.xml, and the file
antrlall.jar is contained in the libs package available from
http://argouml.tigris.org/v09/ds4.html (this contains all additional
libs).
</answer>
<question>
Can I build sequence diagrams with ArgoUML?
</question>
<answer>
Please check the 0.9.2 developer release. It already has some support for
sequence diagrams.
</answer>
<question>
I've seen comments all over the website like "don't use 0.9.2" because
of file saving/opening
problems. How likely is it that my diagrams will disappear if I use 0.9.2?
</question>
<answer>
Likely it won't work.
</answer>

<cvs>

<question>
Do I need to unpack the jar files?>
</question>
<answer>
No, you don't need to unpack the .jar files, just start java -jar
argouml.jar
</answer>

<question>
How do I compile the CVS?
</question>
<answer>
Download the latest antlrall.jar . Download the whole library package
downloaded the "ArgoUML-0.9.2-libs.zip" from
http://argouml.tigris.org/v09/ds4.html , put that in your lib dir,
remove the old build dir and try again. The CVS code should compile.

% cvs -z3 update -d -P
% ant clean
% ant run

Works well with JDK1.3SE from SUN.

<unorganized list>
ctrl + Z does not work, or ctrl+ s (or works sporadically)!!!give us the
ability to undo without having to chase down the command in the menu...this
functionality is very important, and never seems to work

what is the official name of the various work screens?

send email does not work

*double clicking to find an object only works when the visible diagram
contains the object in question...double clicking on the object in the
left hand column does not indicate which diagram the object might be found

*do not remove anything!!!the remove button is very temperamental

*no way of reducing number of panes open in the window

*is the <<stimulus>> another word for message?

*cannot scroll to classes that are 'off screen'...definitely needs a fix

*default an email to dev@argouml under the help window, create a working
email window

*differentiate between link and stimulus

*when opening an old diagram, default to the center of the diagram

*cannot add an actor to the sequence diagram***

*when will swim lanes be added

*can we set up a voting system for various functions that might be missing

*cannot change connections of sequences!!!

*named link in sequence does not show connections

**no way to attach notes to the classes (which hopefully are connected
to the
java docs in some way)

*no way of saving the authorship throughout the document?

*very difficult to change the order of the messages
*difficult to remove renamed objects for example new action in sequence
diagram
crtl+R does not work (find a way to turn off unnecessary windows)
*include edit commands under right click

*dble clicking on link objects in the diagram does not open the property
box in the diagram for that item

*provide a list of html files under the help button (this might help the
documentation process)

*no confirmation of deletion before destroying diagram...and all of the
artifacts from that diagram stay in the top left hand column

*the ctrl +s does not save document, must go to the tool bar

* the associatioin lines do not have the same flexibility as the line drawer

*after typing name of property the return key does not register the changes

*the assiciation must come from the use case and not from the actor artifact

*the assctions often default to straight line which is annoying

*the anchoring of associations to use cases is not easy

*it would be nice to have all of the available associations made
available for
choosing to make the linking process easier

*add to diagram does not work...classes to sequence...is this on purpose?

*no way of securing data changes without clicking off the object

*cannot change the order of the messages in the sequence diagram

*packages are not recognized

*there is no warning on deletion from model for sub packages in a parent
package...when deleting sub packages ARGO may delete more than just the sub
package
